Hi Julian,

To avoid the 'dark mark' on HIE you can cover the pressure plate with a
piece of fully exposed and developed piece of B&W film (like the fogged
leader of each film loaded/unloaded in daylight) . As you suspect, this
reduces drastically the "wood effect" of HIE. There's no more
reflection
coming back from the pressure plate to create the well-known highlight
halo of HIE.

There has been reports on the IR list (Daniel, excuse me for revealing
your secrets ;-) :-) that the material used for those disposable shades
to see a solar eclipse will solve the QD-plate problem while increasing
the wood effect. (The I*can't*recall*the*name material is "mylar", I
think., my head is stuck on 'kevlar', but I guess we're not trying to
make a bullet proof solution ;-) ;-) )

BTW, Daniel, congratulations for your POW!! I was even in the chat if
you
can recall... I didn't know you're on the list as well. I just notice in
the recent threads. Your IR picture of the church is wondeful!

Regards,

Gerard.
