Which camera do you use? 

You can use Flash ratio to do this, and 550ex/Super 500 should be able to do
it, but not on Elan II's. As far as I understood from the manual, only the
master flash needs to be able to set this, so your second flash can be
420ex. Correct me if I am wrong. My understanding is with no ratio control,
both flashes fire at the same power. 

If you put the diffuser on the Sigma, then wouldn't the flash just blast
more power (since it is e-ttl) to compensate?
