Should work, as long as you don't need E-TTL like all new
digitals need.

Not that I know of, and does not seem possible from

That's why I said standard reflector. I meant specifically
reflectors of typically 8 to 10" width with even distribution
over approx 60 degrees, the most common standard reflector.
Yes, this can be jazzed. Which is why studio flash is rarely 
compared just by W/s. There are other, much more important
features. Bayonet mount for lightformers? Rotating such?
Reliabilty? Transportability? Pilot lamp sockets and wattage 
of the lamps?

That's what I meant by saying "Using a softbox you will have 
a smaller guide number than with a parabolic metal reflector."
