Hi Ken,
Before going too much further I would personally repeat the test using a
gray card or similar in a well shaded spot. It takes only a small amount of
glare or reflection to make those difference in your camera's meter. The
variations in the different metering options are indicative of this also. I
have seen comparitive meterings tests done where considerable differences
were noted - only to disappear under more controlled conditions.
