I don't have any problem with this. We want the machines at these places to
do most of the work, right? We are looking for low cost printing at
Walgreens, not hands-on work. If we want to pay for special handling, we go
to a photo shop.

I've never seen a mistake made at a Walgreen's, or anywhere else, that they
didn't fix right away. All I have to do is say I didn't ask for any
panoramic prints, or I didn't ask for double prints, or look at all this
dust on these prints, and they either remove the charge or reprint the film.

For the price I don't think we can realistically expect everything to be
perfect. If you were paying $15 a roll at a camera shop them it would be a
different matter.

If they didn't ruin your negatives, at least you can get them reprinted elsewhere.
While I've usually had good results with Walgreens, once the negative got stuck in the
machine and was overdeveloped. Nothing they can do to fix that.

OTOH, I just moved and the closest drug store is Osco. Terrible quality prints. The
negatives appear to be in good shape and I can get the reprinted elsewhere, but it is
frustrating to pick up prints that look like crap (way too dark) because you are going
to have to go somewhere else to get it fixed.

I took one roll of film to a Motophoto which had bragged about how often they are
called upon to fix drug store photos. They were so badly cropped (the 82% viewfinder
of my Elan showed more than the prints), I had them redo the roll. The reprints had a
ton of blank space on the sides and just looked terrible. Needless to say, I haven't
gone there again. I got some of the shots reprinted at another shop without telling
them of the cropping problem. They were printed no problem.
