My father and I built a small wooden bracket for my camera and attached it to the top of the mast of his sailboat. I then triggered the picture from below. The only drawback was the annoying 4 or 5 minute timeout on the camera. Such a photo would've been possible with a wired release, of course, and wouldn't have had the timeout problem then.
