I have this lens and it is still an outstanding option.
With the EOS3 it can AF with the 1.4x but not the 2x. Some users with the
first batch of EOS3's did AF with the 2x as well (I know of a local
photographer who has one of those) but Canon disabled it in later batches
:-(
