The body does not use an infrared diode for counting sprockets. It won't, therefore, fog HIE film. However, its pressure plate ships with a cutout notch for a date back option, even though no such option was ever sold with the EF-M. (same pressure plate as the Rebel/EOS 1000) So you can sometimes get shadowing on the final picture.
