Hi,

You could also 'simulate' the invisible effect of the ST-E2 by placing
an Infrared filter on the 'master' 550EX.  Contrary to what somebody
wrote, the sensors of the 550ex can see in the near IR spectrum
(otherwise, how could the ST-E2 work?).  The pre-flash is unavoidable,
given that it's the only communication between master and slave. Well,
it's the pre-flash of a wire... you can choose.
