Hi, Ray:

The EOS-1D uses the same AF system as the EOS-1v, in fact they share the
same components. Therefore, the EOS-1D supports central-point AF with EF
lens/extender combinations having an effective maximum aperture as small
as f/8. This would include combinations such as the EF 100-400/5.6L IS
USM + EF 1.4x or the EF 300mm f/4L IS USM + EF 2x.

Best Regards,

Chuck, There has been much discussion on the EOS
usergroup about the smallest aperture at which AF
works on the new 1D digital camera. Is it like the 1v
which will AF up to f/8 or is it like the D30 which stops
at f/5.6? Thanks. Ray Amos
