Well, I guess this shows how smart your shooting buddies are. The one simplest thing you can do to improve the performance of any lens is to add a good hood. Keeping stray light from striking the lens at oblique angles will improve contrast and reduce flare of your images.
The worst thing you can do is to stick a flat piece of window glass on the front of your lens and then use no hood...this is just asking for image degrading flare. In short you are the smart one, IMHO, not your buddies who are making fun of you. -- Harrison McClary Harrison McClary Photography http://www.mcclary.net [EMAIL PROTECTED] Once upon a time Helen Doane wrote: >I took some >ribbing from my shooting buddies about the "$25.00 piece of plastic", but >since I >don't regularly use filters, there's some satisfaction in knowing that >the lens is >better protected, with no optical compromises. * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
