Hi Mark, Though I only have one 550EX I tried this using either the ST-E2 with the gun off-camera, or with the gun on-camera and set to "master". In neither case would the second curtain sync activate. I did wonder whether or not the camera was set to second curtain sync would affect things, but the results were the same regardless.
