Hi Neil,
Are you in manual when you are using flash? Or P mode?
Does this happen with either camera? If so, we can
eliminate the camera being at fault.
Did you accidentally set the flash for a different mode, like
secondary curtain sync?
Here is a suggestion. Verify the shutter speed. Set M mode with
shutter at 1/60 seconds and aperture of F8. Take a photo and see if
you still get the bar. Also take another shot at 1/125 and see
what happens then. Perhaps the sync is not working as it should.
Try other modes and verify the shutter speed each time. Write these
down and when you get the prints back note each one and see where the
problem lies. It could be something amiss with a mode.
