because a lot of my time is spent out in the rain, I have resolved to get
a weatherproof body such as an old 1N. I have a rebel g and it has quit
during some rain or spray, only to get started again after a day or 2 of
drying out. I also have a 630 RT, which I have been more careful with,
but I am not sure what it will take without harm.

I am really in the dark about my lenses, however. Do ordinary EF lenses
do OK in the rain (such as a 50mm 1.8, a 135mm 2.8, a 28-70mm f3.4-4.5)?
Or do I have to buy L series lenses in order to go out in the wet?

What do other rainy day photographers do? I am reluctant to get into rain
hoods and the like. I am willing to forget about it when it is really
coming down, or aboard a really wet boat ride. But I do want to go out
into moderate rain as unencumbered as possible, and not damage the gear.
