I have the 25 mm tube, 50/1.8 and 28-105. Results of the 25mm tube on either
of these lenses is quite good to my standards. With the 50/1.8 you can
autofocus in bright light conditions, with the 28-105 I can forget autofocus
at all. I've made some good pictures using the 25mm + 50/1.8 handheld (in
bright light).
Advantage of the 28-105 is that the focussing range is larger due to the
ability to zoom. When I use the 28-105, I set the focus ring to a center
position (about 1 meter?), and then turn the zoom ring to focus. Then I use
the focus-ring to fine-tune the focus.
I think the combination with the 20-40 is not usable at the short end. (Your
maximum focussing distance will be so close, that it's actually _in_ the
lens)

Stefan.
