Hi Dan,

How about a nice used EOS 1 body? They are bomb-proof, have fast AF, a good
metering system, are simple to use and can be had with a power booster E1 in
EX to MINT condition for $450-$550USD if you look around or are patient on
eBay. Heck, ask here if anyone wants to sell one! The EOS 1's are
excellent bodies with all the features a serious shooter would need and none
of the feature that you don't need. The EOS 1 bodies are much more
durable/reliable than the EOS 7, EOS 5 or even EOS 3 IMO and I've owned
several EOS 5QD's and used an EOS 3 a bit.

Of course if you think you NEED a built-in flash and/or are un-willing to
use a shoe mount or off camera flash, the EOS 7 and 5 may be a better choice
for you. But in the long run these feature rich but lesser bodies will not
last as long mechanically with serious day in and day out (ab)use as an EOS
1 family body. If you keep using the lesser bodies day in and day out
repair costs will VERY QUICKLY eat up the difference in initial cost and the
price of being down can be very high if you miss a job when a camera fails.

Regards,

Chip Louie
