Do ordinary EF lenses >do OK in the rain (such as a 50mm 1.8, a 135mm 2.8, a 28-70mm f3.4-4.5)? >Or do I have to buy L series lenses in order to go out in the wet? We'll have to compare average rainfall in our respective locations sometime Bob ;-) In western Washington (state) the only way you can tell the difference between summer and winter is the temperature of the rain sometimes! I use a 1v body and part of the reason for getting it was it's weather (water) resistance. I know the new sealed lenses are much better, but I have had no problems using the 100-400 and 70-200 L (non-IS) in pouring rain. I think the trick is to not just put them away wet but wipe them down thoroughly after you get home. And I also let them air-dry further before putting them back in their cases. I've used the 28-70 L when it's been raining too and it's construction is no better than non-L lenses, and have had no bad results. So, like horses, don't run 'em hard, and put 'em away wet ;-) Gary Russell * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
