To me the Canon S30 was the answer for a "cheaper digital." It has most of 
the features of the G1/G2, except for the faster lens, 4MP CCD and hot shoe, 
is considerably smaller and produces a fine 3.2 MP image, IMO. I knew I 
wouldn't  carry the G2 with me a much as the S30 - size WAS an issue for me.
