Hi Russell,

I have no direct answer to your question but I have bought some
used Canon EOS stuff and here are some comments:

The things I did buy second-hand are EOS-50E, EOS-3 (2 of them),
24/2.8, 35/2, 50/1.8mkI, 100/2 and 200/2.8mkI. Oh yes and
like new Sigma 20/1.8 EX DG.

I have had two problems with these:

1) Sometimes the 24/2.8 refuces to communicate with the body
whatever I try. Only that lens. It is old but in a good shape.
I suspect some capacitor in it is at the end of its life or
something similar. It doesn't help if I reconnect it several
times.
Then I forget it for some time and try again and everything
works fine. Started that about 1-2 years after the purchase.

2) The much used EF 100/2 stopped focusing. Or not quite,
actually it started to jam and MF was worse than AF.
I disassembled it couple times so far that I had the aperture
mechanism in my hand but since I didn't have tool to remove the
rear lens assembly I took it in service. For about 100E they
made CLA for it and now it seems to work very well.
They also removed most of the dust from inside. I'm happy.

Vesa
