That would be custom function #4 put on 1.  I use it all the time.  This
way, you take full advantage of FTM (full time manual) lenses using
autofocusing when you need it.  I keep it on AI Servo (continous focusing)
mode using only the center focusing point.

I believe this setting is a must for sports where focus planes jump in and
out of frame confusing the heck out of any camera.  Just make sure you keep
the AE lock button down for continous focusing during a motor drive.
