Chip,
This lens is toooo sharp for portraits unless you use a
softening filter like a Zeiss Softar 1. Great for blowing
out the backgrounds at F2 but you need about F4 to get
both the eyes and ears sharp and in focus when close up.
No matter what makeup a mature women uses I would avoid
using this lens unless I had a good soft filter.
Great for kids and pets since they are not concerned
about crevices and wrinkles.
Also, FWIW here is where the Omnibounce plays well.
It softens the light and shadows.
