Nice to see another studio photographer here. I use an EOS-3 with a Norman system, and it works great. Some suggestions:
--use a slave system of some sort--that way you don't worry about damage. I use a Wein IR system. It works great, except that other strobes can trigger it, as well as some other lights. If I replace it, i'll probably go with a radio slave. --even though the EOS-3 user manual claims you have to use a 1/125 shutter speed setting with studio flash, I've had perfect results at the sync setting of 1/200. I'm not sure why Canon thinks studio strobes are different than on-camera flash, but I've used two big power packs at once, and it's fine. good luck! matt > I hope this is not too off-topic.
