Hi Bart,

The EOS RT is a pretty cool camera and IMO still a perfectly good, usable
camera body. I'm in Los Angeles, California, USA and around here, excellent
to mint condition examples can be found for $200-$300USD, the addition of
the technical back with keyboard and hopefully the software, adds interest.
Though sometimes hard to find at camera swap meets, the technical back and
keyboard can still be found for $100-$150USD in excellent condition. Where
I'm located the price you mention is a fair, but not great deal especially
if the body, back and keyboard are only in good cosmetic condition and lack
manuals, but assuming the equipment is 100% operational. In Europe this may
be a good or even great price but in the USofA you can do better if you are
patient. One issue to be aware of is the technical back for the 600's had
some software with it that enhanced what you could do with it but sadly was
written to run under MSDOS and AFAIK there was no newer version released and
there was no information published which would allow writing or using the
data files it creates. 8^(

As to the issue of manuals, they can be found without too much trouble I
think. Start with Canon, failing that, go to a company that sells copies of
factory manuals. Boxes? You don't need no stinking boxes, boxes are for
museum pieces and people who don't get it! Go out and shoot sports action
with that RT and enjoy it! The only other usable camera that is not a
collector's piece that does what the EOS RT does is the EOS 1nRS. Sure,
there are other pellicle mirror bodies out there but they are expensive,
fragile, been beaten to death or in some guy's mint camera collection
gathering dust! For an affordable, working pellicle mirror body the EOS RT
and EOS 1nRS are all there are and there was NEVER a COOL databack for the
EOS 1/1n/1nRS family like the EOS 600 series bodies!

Regards,

Chip Louie
