Congratulations, the 3 should be able to do everything the Elan II can

More than half of the problem was paranoia induced.  Shoot a roll or two
of slides and bracket a few by 1/2 stop.  That should give you a clue. 
If those shots make you wonder shoot a few more slides with more careful observation.

Yours seems made some 3-4 months after rumored correction of the problem.

The added custom function, CF 19 pertains only to use with extra buttons
added to the 300, 400, 500 and 600 superteles when IS was added to them.

You have control  over many additional things, but as I joked at the
beginning of this note - with practice you should be able to get it to
work as well as your Elan II.
