Hi Everyone I'm just posting this for reference in case anyone encounters the problem. As you may remember the AF on my new as-is Rebel 2 was hunting refusing to lock. I noticed that the camera was indeed autofocusing in certain positions such as in portrait position or straight up or almost straight down so I started investigating. I now noticed that the little mirror under the big one was kinda loose and found that the little spring that brings it down was knocked off it's stopper. I managed to get it back on without a major teardown by tugging it home with a hair thin wire and the camera works perfectly. It's anchored on the left side of the mirror. All I can figure is the user must have knocked it loose while cleaning the mirror. Not his fault really but those Canon guys should have known better. Be careful cleaning your mirrors on Rebel 2s! See Ya Javier
