This snippet from a wire service summary of Kodak's most recent operating results adds a note to the film vs. digital discussion. Some of this decline is just "the economy, stupid", but plenty of it is the switch by K-mart shoppers to digital, and that can only increase. Kodak has known for decades that their core silver-halide consumables business would come under increasingly heavy attack by cheap digital cameras, yet with all their resources they were powerless to do anything about it (and certainly not for lack of trying).
