Hoya's ultra-thin filters come with a plastic cap that just pushes on over the filter,
instead of snapping into the (non-existent) front threads.

I think I've seen similar available separately.

The only downside of these is that you sometimes have to remove the lens hood in order
to get the cap off easily.

Subject: EOS Filter vs. Cap

Hi all,
I just received my EF 28-105 USM II, Hood and protect filter.
First roll is not finished yet, so no comments on the lens, yet.
But, the filter I bought is Tiffen UV Protector WIDE ANGLE filter, which has
no front thread, so I can't put lens cap on. Doh!
What should I do? Should I put on filter and forget about cap or should I
screw filter every time I take out my camera from the bag?
Sorry for OT, but I wanted to share how stupid I was for not paying
attention to what I was buying.
David
