My 200/2.8L stopped working yesterday! It will not lock focus. If I put the focus limiter at min~3m and manually focus the lens between those two points and try to AF It will just hunt between min~3m. If I the manually focus to between 3~infility it will not even move at all. If I place the focus limiter at 3m~intinty and manually focus between those points and then try to AF it will just hunt between 3m~intinity, and if I manually focus between min~3m then try to AF it will not even move at all. All my other lenses work fine and they are all Canon. I removed the battery, turned it off. No go. If im MF mode and I focus the lens I will receive a focus confirmation when I achieve manual focus. This lens is only six months old purchased from BH. Never dropped it ect. It's been babied! When it hunts it goes back and forth and will not stop till I release the shutter button. Just before this happened I accidentally opened the back of the camera not realizing there was film loaded and half exposed (D'oh!). I closed the back and and hit the mid-roll rewind. Loaded a new roll and then the lens was not working. (just a coincidence?)
