No wonder. The G2 has not the best glass in the world, 
and uses a sensor much smaller than that of the D60.

In structures as small as that, another optical problem
steps in, "Beugung" would be the German word.
I'm short for the English term of trade for that.

Basically it is that light is diverted in relation
to it's wavelength when passing very small openings,
spreading a single ray into cute little rainbows.....

Right, but the bigger problem is the small structures.
The bigger the sensor, the smaller the optical problems.
