Especially after Sep 11, that last sentence now has a different ring!

I do not have a BP-E1, but if I am lazy, I can mount the Elan 7E with
BP-300 upside down in the tripod mount ring. If the Canon TMR-B was not so
expensive, I would have machined off the offending 2 mm by now.

Shooting upside down is not usually a problem with MACRO unless I am using
flash. Is this a good excuse to get an ST-E2 :-)

Although I love using the 334B monopod (adjustable using only one hand!), I
am saving up for a carbon fibre tripod which can accommodate the 100-400 IS
with a teleconvertor. Most CF tripods cannot go to ground level, so I might
still have to work with a 331 / 334B combination for low level macro.

I also have a 035 superclamp, which can clamp low down on a tripod leg, or
to a tree branch, or to a handrail in a cave. It can support an Elan 7E with
100-400 all by itself! Unfortunately that thing weighs almost as much as the
entire CF tripod!

For the time being, my 035 superclamp lives in a wheeled backpack with a
telescopic handle. If I go to New York, I intend to clamp my camera to my
luggage for shooting, since tripod use is apparently prohibited without a
licence. Will I be arrested for this?

Cheers
