I am in the Army and was stationed near Tokyo for three years (96-99). My favorite store was Yodobashi. While they do take credit cards, you get a better deal paying cash. With a credit card purchase you receive an 8% rebate to use the next time you visit the store, and when you pay cash you receive a 10% rebate. Sometimes you can use the rebate the same day.

I heard that you can get better deals on EOS gears in Tokyo than even NY mail order houses. I am looking for: EOS3 EF 2x teleconverter Is it worth the time to buy in Tokyo (will have to take that time away from actual sight seeing and snapping pictures, of course). Any idea about the actual saving in USD$? Any recommendation for the stores? Directions (preferably starting from one of those rail/subway stations or significant landmarks)? Do they take credit cards (Visa, MC, AMEX) or like cash more? Also, I want to take a lot of Fuji films (Velvia, Provia F and Reala) with me. Is it wiser to buy in Tokyo instead of carrying them along? Advice much appreciated.
