I own the Tamron SP 1.4X. Like all other 1.4 or 1.5x TCs,
you lose one stop of light when you use it. Hence if you have
an F2.8 lens the AF will work. Your 28-105mm should work
with your Elan II (although it may hunt back and forth at
the long end in low light) but the 75-300mm lens which is
F5.6 at the long end becomes F8 and the AF will be deactivated
when you use the 1.4x with that lens.
Only the EOS3 & 1v have AF that operates at F8.
