The 1600 speed film is the best way to avoid any hassles. In July, when
I was leaving Las Vegas, I ran into an idiot supervisor that gave me all
kinds of crap about hand checking my film. I even had the FAA reg that
says I am entitled to request a hand check. He kept saying 1000 speed
or higher.....
The idiot didn't understand that I had unfortunately chosen the scanner
station that had a new person being trained. The scanner was stopping
and the trainer was pointing things out to the trainee. I had no
problem with the new person being trained, but I didn't want my film
that was exposed in my EOS-3, EOS content, stuck in the x-ray while
things were being pointed out.
Finally I was sent to the station where every roll was looked at and
wiped. Funny thing here was that the one roll that was in a Kodak box
didn't get checked because it was "factory sealed". I guess he showed
me.....
I did learn that the cost of a couple rolls of 1000 or 1600 speed film
is nothing compared to the hassle some people that can't think will put
me through.
