Well, it seems someone does not know what they are talking about.
Contax have just announced an SLR with a full frame (36mm x 24mm)
digital sensor.

So what is new? Will Canon be following along shortly?
The Canon D90?
Unless Contax are telling fibs maybe the claims of many that
"full-frame sensors are not technically possible within an SLR shell"
(due to angles of light hitting pixels) appear to be just guff.
As to whether anyone would anyone want a full-frame sensor: The 1.6
multiplier (cropping) effect of the D30 then 1.3 of the D60 have been
sold as advantages.
