Well, after many years of holding out, and a long talk with the manager of Canon's CPS operations, I finally ordered a Canon EOS digital camera last week. The 1Ds appears to meet my objects of what I want in a digital camera, suitable for my stock images and large final prints. I have compared the file images taken with the 1Ds to some 4000 dpi scans from my 1V using L series lens on Kodak E100VS film, The most interesting thing is the lack of noise in the image, Even using the Grain management and reduction functions of my Nikon 4000 scanner, the resulting perceived resolution of the images of the digital body (at effect 2700 dpi) exceed the film. image as small details get lost in the grain of the film
Pricing on the body is still up in the air, but there is a confirmed maximum CPS pricing which may drop, and delivery could be as early as end of this year if all goes well. This more or less eliminates my need for a darkroom as I have using digital printing for most of my printing in the last few years, if anyone is interested in some professional quality darkroom equipment, dicrohic colour enlarger, large format enlarger, tabletop automatic colour paper processor, tanks etc. and you are in the Toronto/Mississauga/Hamilton area of southern Ontario, and need some gear, call me, I need the space. This equipment (at least some of it) might be excellent for photography students Details on equipment at: http://www.agnew.biz/darkroom.html , as well as phone number regards Edward Agnew * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
