Hi.
Just read the section of flash photography with EOS-3 coupled to the flash
(presumably 550EX) in EOS3 Hove book. The warn about using E-TTL in A
priority (Av) and generally recommend to avoid Av when shooting with flash.
This is quire a nonsense for me, since I used to use A priority always
including for flash exposures and in most cases relied the TTL (just plain
TTL available form Minolta 800si) with certain small manual adjustments when
necessary. Since the aperture was in my control and the shutter doesn't have
much influence on flash exposure (in low-light and indoors situations when
the flash is considered as the main lighting), the camera altered flash
output to suit the subject's brightness.
Now they claim Av mode is somewhat dangerous when used with flash and
recommend to switch to P instead which is unlikely for me.
Would be glad to hear opinions from experiences flash users, especially
those utilizing their EOS-3 (or 1V - similar flash exposure systems) coupled
to 550EX.
I'm going to do events, so this issue is very important for me, although I'm
going to burn a few rolls prior to that to work out my way with this new
system (for me).
How do you cope with E-TTL ?
Did you find useful to switch to A-TTL or just plain TTL (center-weighted)
at a times ?
Any experiences with Sto-fen Omnibounce, Mini softboxes ?

Regards,
Alex Z
