Hi George, I know you didn't intend to replace this mailing list, although some people might have interpreted your action this way. But I too appreciate your effort in setting up the forum. A forum is a lot more userfriendly if you want to avoid the same items being discussed over and over again. You just create a topic and most people will automagically find to post their comments. This is the factor that makes a forum a lot more selective than a mailing-list. Archiving is instantaneous... BTW a forum doesn't block your e-mail box when you're on a 2-week shooting trip ;-)
There are good things to be said about mailing lists as well though: Since a lot of people do NOT have a broadband internet connection, it is more conveniant to read messages off-line. And if you receive e-mails on subjects you don't find of interest, what prevents you from deleting them? (downloading is quick anyway because of the "plain text" format). BTW... After a while you end up reading all of the messages you receive anyway =P Last but not least, this mailing list has a certain flair of tradition, doesn't it? As far as archieving is concerned... Did you know that you can read all messages on yahoo? http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eos/messages Any road, I hope the negative comments you received didn't have an effect on your enthousiasm for our mutial focal point here...
