I've seen a 28-135 IS lens advertised as used, M-, for around 80% of what I'd pay for
a new one. But I wonder about and what might have happened to the lens with the
previous owner and the resilience of the electronic focusing and (especially) the IS
mechanisms. This is a much more complicated and hi-tech lens than anything I've owned
before and I don't have a feel for it in the same way as I would have with a
mechanical lens for a manual focus camera, where I know from experience that there is
nothing much to go wrong. Does it make any sense to consider buying this IS lens as a
used purchase with the above saving, or is it a (much?) better policy to buy it new?
