I'm hunting for a flash for my EOS 55. If cost was not an object, I'd get a 550EX.
but then again, size is something I'm concerned with, that flash is pretty big. I like the size of the 380EX. Mostly, I want a better flash for flash fill, but will want to do some bouncing with my OCSC2 sometimes. I have been reading everything I can about other options, including the Sigma, Sunpak, and Achiever flashes. I'm also thinking about the 540EZ, since a used one can be bought for half the price of a new 550EX. Important to me is that a flash compensation can be dialed in with my camera. I'm not too sure about E-TTL and the preflash. The 550EX is the only EX flash that E-TTL can be turned off. Using an EZ flash of course I can use TTL (I think). If I could get a decent price on one, I might get a 430EZ, but here in Japan, they seem to be really in demand, and in fact all the flash units I've seen are over priced. I might even order one from the States. Although the 380EX is weaker, that's not a problem. I can use it on the OCSC2 if I really want to bounce it, that's not a problem. I can get this flash the cheapest of all the Canon flashes, and I know it will do most of what I want, but... Can anyone give me some advice about what to do for a flash for my EOS 55? I really don't want to spend more than I spent for the camera on a flash unit. By the way, I love this camera, and ECF is fantastic. And it's black :-) Jim Davis * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
