I have travelled post Sept 11 with a tripod -
I have a medium sized Manfrotto with the 352RC Ball Head.
I was able to carry it onto the aircraft and not have to check it with my
other baggage. It stowed decently under the seat or it would have been
fine in the overhead compartment but I decided not to take the chance in
case it did accidentally fall out.

I bought a small zippered bag for the Tripod for travelling and that seemed
to make a world of difference.

Hope this helps,
Dave

Hi everybody,

I have never traveled before by plane carrying a tripod, but now I must
do it. The question is, what do you do with the tripod? Are you allowed
to carry it in cabin with you, or you are forced to check-in it? If this
is the case, how do you check-in the tripod, which protection do you use
to avoid damage? Which are folks your experiences with that?

The tripod is a Manfrotto 3001BPRO, and I must travel inside USA and
also to Europe.

Thanks!

Diego
