I'm resending this as it seems the list was down for a couple of days. Sorry if you receive it duplicated. -----
Hi all, I rented a 550ex for the weekend to play with some wireless flash, ratios, strobo, etc... and found out an odd thing. In normal conditions & with one flash, pressing FEL with the flash in other mode than E-TTL does nothing. (Manual/Strobo). Now, using a master/slave combination the following happen: With the EOS50E, if you press FEL in Manual or strobo, a pre-flash is fired. It actually transmits the parameters to the slave. So if I change the strobo frecuency to -say- 40Hz on the master and then I press FEL, the 40 is transmited to the slave and appears on the display. Very handy, as you can now turn off the master and fire the slave manually (For example leave the shutter open and fire when I want: open flash technique). The odd thing is that the EOS30 does nothing when you press FEL in Manual or Strobe modes. The EOS 30 is newer on the line and includes 'advanced' features for wireless flash, such as ratio control, so is my unit not working properly? I wonder what goes on with the EOS3 or the 1v...?? What about the D'x,xx s? ?? Neil, I read the Wireless section on your FAQ and this peculiarity is not commented. If other list members can confirm this behavior (and it's not my EOS30 malfuctioning) it would be nice if you include a note. Also, while going through the text, I found the following paragraph: "There are of course differences in the timing of some of these events if AE lock, flash exposure lock (FEL) and/or second-curtain sync are used, but that is the basic flowchart." It suggests that WETTL supports second curtain sync, and it doesn't. Kind regards, Gerard. * **** ******* *********************************************************** * For list instructions, including unsubscribe, see: * http://www.a1.nl/phomepag/markerink/eos_list.htm ***********************************************************
