Canon has a strong presence all over the photographic map. But it is curiously absent in two: posh P&S and rangefinder. Contax is doing nicely in both, with T3/TVS3 and G1/G2. Leica, Nikon, Minolta all have something in the segments. Even Cosina is making inroads with the Bessa line of rangefinders. Why doesn't Canon do something in these segment? There is obviously money to be made, and Canon has a distinguished history in RF (does Canon 7 ring a bell?) if not yet in posh P&S. Imagine if they combine the prowess of USM/FTM with electronically coupled rangefinder! So why?
