Word on the street is that Canon did in fact make 24-105/2.8 IS and 28-135/2.8 IS prototype lenses, and both were too heavy to be practical for their purpose. Nothing was said about image quality or exactly *how* heavy these prototype lenses were, but apparently Canon decided against producing them.
I'd prefer a 24-105/4 IS anyway. Would also be nice to see Canon introduce a 100-300/4 IS or 100-400/4 IS as well.
