When my son and I were looking at meters, the viewfinder display made a huge difference. You could easily use the 1 degree spot and scan different areas of a scene without taking your eye from the meter finder. I still use my old Minolta Spot V 1 degree meter once in a while and can't imagine using it without instant feedback in the finder. All in all, it still depends on what kind of use you're going to put it through.
