When my son and I were looking at meters, the viewfinder display made a huge
difference.  You could easily use the 1 degree spot and scan different areas
of a scene without taking your eye from the meter finder.  I still use my
old Minolta Spot V 1 degree meter once in a while and can't imagine using it
without instant feedback in the finder.

All in all, it still depends on what kind of use you're going to put it
through.  Neither the 508 or the 608 is anywhere near cheap  ;}
