One item that appears to be inaccurate in the report is the statement that
Canon will not offer warranty considerations on gray market purchased
products in the U.S.

I do not believe this is the case.  In fact, I believe Canon will honor
warranty considerations on any Canon product (U.S. or gray market) as long
as you have valid proof of being the original purchaser (i.e., a dated
receipt from an approved Canon supplier).

Thus, buying a gray market Canon product new, from B&H for example, entitles
you to normally Canon warranty considerations.

Where Canon clearly does not provide warranty considerations is on all
non-original purchaser transactions, such as Ebay transactions that are not
from a certified Canon dealer.
