Having been on both sides of the camera at a wedding, I agree with Henry. If there's specific pictures you want taken, ask the photographer. They should be more than happy to oblige. Eat, drink and be merry. Leave the camera at home.
There are people here with more wedding experience than I, but I have done my share. My PERSONAL opinion is:
Your child's wedding is (hopefully) a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Enjoy the party, eat the food, dance with your loved ones and leave the photography to the people you're paying (hopefully) a lot of money.
