Hi Everyone I took my gear to the camera shop after supper and after some fiddling around, it turns out there's a step missing from the Canon instructions. For the modeling flash feature to work on an Elan 7e, the flash needs to be set in "slave" mode (even when it's on the camera and the only flash in use).
