Before the JRF neoprene covers that Artie Morris sells for the 500 and 600
lenses, I used fabric camouflage tape on my long lenses.  Just make sure you
get the kind of tape designed for hunting rifles--breathable so it doesn't
trap moisture and using an adhesive that allows easy removal without leaving
a residue.
