I don't think this is much of a problem, as long as you don't provide more than 600x400, ok, they could still be used on other websites, but the infringer couldn't provide any high quality prints. Digital watermarks are a nice idea, but you'll only catch "amateur infringers" using them. There are ways to remove them or make them unreadable. The best idea really is to keep the resolution low ... Just MHO. That croping idea is interesting, although I don't quite understand what you really try to achieve with it. One can always fake a bigger image, I guess.

Well, whoever uses your images without permission takes a
risk as well. Granted, it's unlikely you run across his use of your
picture, but IF you do, he's in trouble.
