If I plan to use JPEG images for post-production purposes, I carefully CWB
the camera (1D in my case).

If I plan to use RAW images for post-production purposes, then I rarely
bother to CWB the camera.  Instead, if at all possible, I shoot a
Gretag-MacBeth Color Chart card as a reference, some time during the
shooting session.  Then later, as part of the RAW-to-TIFF conversion
process, I use the second-to-lightest B&W square as a white reference color.

Remember, CWBing the camera only affects the JPEGs, not the RAW images.  If
you shoot JPEG, the camera does the WBing (along with a number of other
things) as part of the post-shot processing performed in the camera.  If you
shoot RAW, you have to do the WBing (along with other things) outside of the
camera using your computer and either Canon's or a third-party's s/w.
